About

The Durham Region is located approximately 40km east of Toronto, Ontario. It is home to two Nuclear Power Generation Stations (Darlington and Pickering), deploying 10 CANDU (Canadian Deuterium Uranium) nuclear reactors, operated by OPG (Ontario Power Generation).

NAYGN Durham Chapter (or just NAYGN Durham) started its journey in 2008, 9 years after The Core (or NAYGN Headquarters) group was formed. Keeping in line with The Core, NAYGN Durham provides opportunities for a young generation of nuclear enthusiasts in the Durham Region to develop strong leadership and professional skills, create life-long connections, engage and inform the public, and inspire today’s nuclear technology professionals to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Our structure allows us to be flexible and serve a wide variety of members across the Durham Region. Since initiation, we have been deeply involved in engaging and increasing participation of professionals from different aspects of the Nuclear Industry. We spend our time and effort to organize activities to educate the public about the Nuclear Industry and provide development opportunities at the local and regional level. In 2018, our chapter was awarded the Best NAYGN Chapter In Canada award at the Nuclear Energy Assembly conference.
